How do you design an app for PC & PS4?

A while ago I had a client who wanted to design a product for the Nvidia Shield & PS 4. Now, since I have never got the chance to design for these platforms - I tried to do a little exercise just to better understand the shift between the desktop world
that we know - to the TV & PS4 remote. and So, I chose to design a very simple photo editing app - for Desktop first.
Once I did that, I took the same concept and designed it as if it was for the PS4:

When I started to think about the product, suddently - a few challenges rose:
For example: How will the user use layers? How will the user click on the interface, and how do I show the canvas?
Since the TV is bigger than the pc monitor, I should definitely use up all that space and show the user the full image that he is designing Also, How do I avoid sub menus? It's not like the user has a cursor
These were just a few of the problems.

Wait, what? So this is what I did

First of all, I decided that the image itself will always take up the full screen, and let the user move the picture around using the touch interface on the PS4 controller ( Nvidia Shield can use an air remote to do that too).
The user can hide and show the interface using the Triangle button. The user will be able to scroll through the layers with their numb pad arrows, and go through the menu options with the left joystick - while the right one will be used for the settings themselves (curves etc...)

Aha! And the product itself?

Now, I have took some features out, and simplified others. I figured that If a user needs to edit a photo on his PS4 (or Nvidia shield for example), he probably just needs to do it because he wants to correct small stuff so he can show his family the photo - and that he is not looking for an extremely high precision & multi tool solution - other wise he would use photoshop or any "Semi professional" photo editing app. Unfortunately, I can't show the app that I designed for my client because its all *hush hush*, but this little exercise that I did was designed to text those gaps between working on a desktop and "working" on your PS4 interface. I chose the PS4 because it was by fat the most challenging platform I had to design too, and because I had no experience in working with it.
